Dr. Zoe Saynor leads a research team focusing on furthering our understanding regarding exercise testing, exercise limitation and exercise training for people with cystic fibrosis (CF).
As you may have heard from our CFK Parent’s Evening, we have been working with Portsmouth University very closely. We purchased the CPET exercise bike and equipment to help initiate clinical exercise testing in our community and the team at the University have been busy putting this into practise and monitoring and delivering the in depth results.
Dr. Zoe Saynor and her team from the Department of Sport and Exercise Science have been collaborating with the adult and paediatric CF teams at the University Hospital Southampton since 2014. The clinical team expressed an immediate desire to be involved in exercise testing and training research and to work together to improve the provision of exercise in applied clinical practice. CFK were there at the beginning and funding the first cycle ergometer to initiate clinical exercise testing on the wards. To date we have had several students and team members present their research at various conferences and events across the world.
