Portsmouth Dragon Boat Race

Every year the Portmouth Rotary Club hold a Dragon Boat Race event to raise money for their good causes via entry fee. The event is spectacular and as well as entertainment on the bank of the lake at IBM north Harbour, a host of charities from the area come together under some what windy marquees and gazebo's (if they dont blow away!) each year to raise money in heats of races made up of three to four boats and their teams through out the day. Each team has 3 races and the best times are raced off in a grand finale. Their money is raise through sponsorship for each charity competing.

The Portsmouth city council planning department have very kindly chosen us as their charity for the last two years running. Last year over £500 was raised for us.

This year the team was made up of the planning department and some of the CFK team. Along with families and friends shouting on the banks, we all dressed as farmers and were known as the portsmouth planners. We ran a very respectable 3 races improving our times each race and acheiving very respectable times. The final sum raised will be around the same amount of money this year again.

A massive well done and a very big thankyou to all who enjoyed the day and sponsored us.

Our team came 12th overall (out of 29), with a final time of 1:12.24 - which although it didn't get us into the final, is a good time, and hopefully everyone had a great time too!
