Hi, my name is Rosie

I was first diagnosed with CF at two weeks old.

The Guthrie or heel prick test was taken by the mid wife. My tummy was hurting and I constantly needed a nappy change straight after feeding. My Mummy and Daddy were a little concerned but the joy of having me made them put it to the back of their mind.

Then the midwife came back for another test saying the results were not clear. Again this seemed normal in the throw of things and all the comings and goings at home. I was truly welcomed into the world by so many people eager to meet me and right from the start I felt very special.

After two weeks in this world we were all called to the doctor's surgery. Mum rang Dad at work and was very upset. We all went to the surgery and when Dad saw their faces he knew it was serious. This was the point we knew I had CF. The first emotions my parents felt were fear, pain and almost a sense of grief. Mum and Dad just held me for ages crying.

Jason came from the hospital and sat down with Ben and Billy to explain to them in a way they would understand what I had. Those first few weeks went from joy to sadness for awhile.

Then Mum and Dad started asking all the questions and looking up as much information as they could find about my condition. We all realised that yes my life was going to be different but it didn't mean I couldn't have a normal fulfilling life.

My brothers and parents look after me and make sure all my medicine and physio is done on time and mum is always tweaking it to help me feel better when I get ill. I feel much love in my life and with my family around me I feel that I am a happy energetic little girl. Although the future is uncertain it is very positive and sure looks 'Rosie!'
